The Nomads organisers have had to cancel the Nomads Winter comp at Shelly Beach scheduled 19-21 June 2014 due to a lack of entries.

Only three (3) boats entered.

To all members, East Rand Ski Boat Club and Nomads.

Through the collaboration of our members and as sanctioned by our respective committees, the cogs have started to turn in preparation for an exciting fund raiser.

On National Heritage day 24 September, we will jointly host a Family Day Festival at CR Swart Dam Rynfield.

As it co-insides with that time of the year, the festival will be aimed at providing food, beverages, music and fun for the entire family to celebrate spring, our Heritage and of course don’t forget the influence of Oktober. Of course the main aim is to make a few bob for the clubs so that we can send you the anglers on more fishing trips.

Briefly, we intend taking over the car park and club house facilities where we will erect a marquee and a beer garden, with stalls for vendors to ply their trades from face painting to framed art, ice cream, sweets or chips n dips, braai packs and eisbein . We intend to have traditional entertainers and umpah bands in the beer tent, camping and boating displays, wake board demos, fishing boat rides, jumping castles and as much fun as we can squeeze into a day.

As you can imagine there are a number of things to take care of, artwork and advertising in Benoni, Boksburg, Kempton areas, erection of marquees, stalls, electricity and backup generators, bands and band stands, food prep, ablutions, braai fires, security, banking etc.  There is a host of organizing and preparation to be done and we need everyone to volunteer their services. Of course we need your support on the day but leading up to that, we need every member from both clubs to roll up their sleeves and help between now and September.

Historically, as with most sports clubs, the same people show up to help all the time. Folks we cannot continue to rely on the same people again simply because we have embarked on a major project and there are not enough ‘same people’ to do justice to this fantastic opportunity.
