The weather gods did not favour Nomads this time round and only one day was fishable.
All competitors arrived safely on the Saturday hoping for a test run on the Sunday prior to the competition starting. But alas, the surf was up and everyone decided to take a rest day and prepare for Monday.
On the Monday morning the surf was still large and the conditions were not favourable for launching. After waiting till 10am, the launch was called off.
After waiting an hour on the Tuesday morning, it was decided that the boats could launch. Conditions were tough and would require some skill to negotiate the gap. Eight of the twelve boats ventured out for a day's fishing which was slow and under difficult conditions. Only 12 fish were brought to the gallows.
At 2am on Wednesday morning, the wind picked up so much that by launch time at 6am the wind was howling at 28knots. After consulting websites windfinder and buoyweather, and in consultation with the skippers it was decided to call off the competition as the outlook for the rest of the week was not promising.
